Why does the Church condone women preaching and teaching the Gospel as ordained ministers when God strictly forbids and considers it an abomination?

    Introduction

In an age when the lines between the sacred and the profane blur daily, the Church of Jesus Christ must return to uncompromising obedience to His Word. One grievous abomination spreading through pulpits today is the practice of women preaching or serving as ordained ministers, something Scripture forbids. While modern culture applauds such rebellion as “progress,” the eternal Word of God brands it an act of spiritual defiance—an abomination in His eyes. Our obedience to His Word is paramount, and we must not stray from it.

In Revelation 2:19-21, Jesus Christ—risen, ascended, and glorified—issues a severe warning to any church that tolerates a woman usurping authority and teaching in defiance of His design.

“I know your works, love, service, faith, and patience; your last works are more than the first.” Nevertheless, I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants…” (Revelation 2:19-20, NKJV)

Christ’s warning could not be more explicit: He has “a few things” against any church that tolerates a woman calling herself a teacher or prophetess—a Jezebel—seducing His people away from pure doctrine.

    1. Christ Himself Condemns the Jezebel Spirit

When Jesus addressed the Church in Thyatira, He rebuked them not for their lack of works, love, or service, but for tolerating a woman who taught with spiritual authority in the Church, leading believers into compromise. The ‘Jezebel spirit’ is symbolic of rebellion against God’s order. It refers to the influence of Jezebel, a queen in the Old Testament who led Israel into idolatry and immorality. Her influence extended not only to immoral acts but also to false teaching that corrupted His servants.

“And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent.” (Revelation 2:21)

Here we see the terrifying reality: Jesus Himself, reigning in glory, is deeply grieved when churches tolerate what He forbids—women teaching, leading, and seducing His flock with rebellious doctrines. To ignore this is to invite His Judgment.

    2. Paul’s Command Stands: Women Must Remain Silent in Church

The Apostle Paul, speaking by the Holy Spirit, provides no uncertain sound:

“Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.” (1 Timothy 2:11-12)

This command is not a cultural suggestion. Paul roots it in the order of creation.:

“For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman, being deceived, fell into transgression.” (1 Timothy 2:13-14)

The woman’s subjection to man is not punishment but divine protection, preserving God’s glory and guarding the Church against spiritual deception—the very same deception the Jezebel spirit exploits.

    3. Paul Commands Women’s Silence for the Sake of Order

    To the Corinthians, Paul writes:

“Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says… For it is shameful for women to speak in church.” (1 Corinthians 14:34-35)

Modern ears bristle at this. But God calls it “shameful” for a woman to speak with authority in the assembly. To ignore such an act is to despise the Lord’s command.

    4. Male Spiritual Leadership Was God’s Order From the Beginning

God created Adam first in Eden and granted him headship over the other creatures. Eve was created by God to assist Adam, not to control him. Eve fell by acting independently of Adam’s headship. While Adam sinned intentionally, the Bible’s emphasis on Satan deceiving Eve underscores the danger of rejecting God’s authority (Genesis 2–3).

    5. The Priesthood and the Apostles Were Male

    Under the Old Covenant:

    • All priests were males from the line of Aaron (Exodus 28:1).
    • Male Levites held exclusive rights to Temple ministry (Numbers 3:6-10).
    • Deborah served as a judge during a time of male cowardice, but never as a priest or temple teacher (Judges 4–5).

    Under the New Covenant:

    • Jesus Christ chose twelve male apostles (Mark 3:13-19).
    • The New Testament doesn’t name a single female apostle, elder, or pastor.

    6. The Head of the Woman is the Man

“But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.” (1 Corinthians 11:3)

Preaching is an act of spiritual headship. A woman who preaches over men inverts this divine chain of authority, dethroning God’s order.

    7. Rebellion Brings Judgment

“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.” (1 Samuel 15:23)

When churches ordain female pastors in defiance of Scripture, they act in open rebellion — a spiritual witchcraft that invites Christ’s Judgment, precisely as He warned Thyatira. The spiritual danger of rebellion is real and urgent, and we must heed Christ’s warning.

    8. A Jezebel Spirit Seduces Through Compromise

Revelation 2 describes Jezebel, a self-proclaimed prophetess. Many claim the titles of “prophetess” or “apostle” today, but Jesus did not appoint anyone to these roles. Their purported “ministries” lead to confusion, immorality, and doctrinal compromise.

The Lord sees. He says, “I gave her time to repent…but she did not repent.” Judgment comes next.

    9. Women May Serve—But Not as Ordained Preachers

God allows women to serve in the Church. Women may:

    • Teach children (2 Timothy 1:5)
    • Discipline younger women. (Titus 2:3-5)
    • Serve as helpers, encouragers, intercessors, and supporters (Romans 16:12)

But Scripture nowhere authorizes women to preach to or exercise authority over men in the assembly.

    10. The Bride Must Remain Pure

The Church is the bride of Christ, and Christ is the Head (Ephesians 5:23-24). A woman preaching over men reverses this spiritual picture, corrupting the bride’s purity with disobedience.

    11. Major Religions Confirm This Principle

Judaism, Islam, and historic Christianity all uphold male leadership in spiritual offices:

    • Judaism: Only males served as priests and rabbis (Orthodox tradition).
    • Islam: Women cannot lead mixed congregational prayers.
    • Christianity: For nearly 1900 years, churches rejected female ordination until liberal movements abandoned the Word for worldly approval.

    12. Modern Tolerance is Spiritual Cowardice

    Jesus said:

“Nevertheless, I have a few things against you, because you allow…” (Revelation 2:20)

Christ rebukes the Church not for evil deeds but for tolerating evil teachers. Churches today tolerate female pastors to appear progressive, fearing man more than God. But tolerance of Jezebel brings Judgment.

    13. Why Does the Church Tolerate What God Calls an Abomination?

The question is not whether Scripture is clear — it is. The question is why so many pastors, elders, and denominations fear man more than they fear the risen Christ who warns from His heavenly throne.

    14. Repent or Face Judgment

Jesus warns Jezebel and all who follow her teaching:

“Indeed, I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds.” (Revelation 2:22)

Jesus’ warning is no empty threat. Churches that ordain female pastors invite corruption, confusion, false doctrine, and spiritual decay — plagues that only repentance can reverse.

    15. Let the Bride Return to Her Lord

Believers must have the courage to reject compromise, even when the culture mocks them. Christ’s Word is final:

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.” (Matthew 24:35)

    Conclusion: Fear God, Not Man

It is an abomination before a holy God for a woman to preach or teach in a formal, ordained capacity. This directive is not man’s opinion — this is the command of the Lord Jesus Christ, who holds the stars in His right hand and walks among the churches.

The question for every pastor, elder, and church board is this: Why do you tolerate Jezebel in your pulpit?

Christ is calling His Church to repent — or face the consequences He has promised.

    Key Scriptures

    • Genesis 2–3
    • 1 Samuel 15:23
    • 1 Corinthians 11:3; 14:34–35
    • 1 Timothy 2:11-14
    • Titus 2:3–5
    • Revelation 2:19-23
    • Matthew 24:35

“Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth.” (Revelation 2:16)

May the Church tremble, repent, and return to the Word of the Lord.
