The Eternal Significance of Jesus Christ to God the Father and Why Humanity Must Not Fail the Test to Recognize the Significance of His Supremacy.

Jesus is not an afterthought. He is not merely a remedy for sin. He is the Beginning, the Agent of Creation, the Purpose for which all things exist, and the One exalted by the Father as both Lord and Christ (Acts 2:36).

In the narrative of Scripture, no person is more central, exalted, and divine than Jesus Christ—the Son of the living God, the Christ, and the only Savior of Humanity. The Bible doesn’t merely introduce Jesus as a historical figure, prophet, or teacher; it presents Him as the Word, through whom and for whom God made all things. To understand the importance of Jesus Christ to the Father is to unlock the most profound truth of the universe and the ultimate Purpose of creation itself.

Jesus is not an afterthought. He is not merely a remedy for sin. He is the Beginning, the Agent of Creation, the Purpose for which all things exist, and the one exalted by the Father as both Lord and Christ (Acts 2:36).

    I. Jesus: The Eternal Word of God

“In the Beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the Beginning with God. “All things were made through Him, and without Him, nothing was made.”

    —John 1:1–3

John’s Gospel begins not with Jesus’ birth or ministry, but with eternity past—when only God existed. Jesus is called “the Word” (Greek: Logos), and this Word was both with God and was God. This distinction and unity highlight the eternal relationship between Jesus (the Son) and the Father.

Not only is Jesus God Himself, but He is also the One through whom He made all things. It implies that Jesus is the Creator, the divine agent of creation, and not a created thing. Paul affirms this truth:

“For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.”

    —Colossians 1:16-17

Everything—from galaxies to atoms, angels to humans—was made through Jesus and for Jesus. Even the very breath we take, the fabric of time, and the laws of nature exist because of Him. The scripture above shows Jesus isn’t just central to creation; He’s its ultimate goal.

II. Jesus: The Visible Image of the Invisible God

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.”

    —Colossians 1:15

Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God. No one has seen God the Father in His fullness. As John writes:

“No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, has declared Him.”

    —John 1:18

Jesus reveals God perfectly. When Philip asked Jesus to show them the Father, Jesus replied:

“He who has seen Me has seen the Father.”

    —John 14:9

Therefore, to know Jesus is to understand the Father. He is the perfect expression of God’s nature and character. Hebrews echoes this truth:

“God… has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person…”

    —Hebrews 1:1–3

III. The Father’s Delight and Plan in His Son

God the Father delights in His Son. At Jesus’ baptism, a voice came from heaven:

“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

    —Matthew 3:17

And again, at the Mount of Transfiguration:

“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!”

    —Matthew 17:5

From eternity, the Father has loved the Son (John 17:24). He made all things through Him, for Him, and has appointed Him heir of all things. This eternal plan of God places Jesus as the central figure of history and eternity.

Even before the foundation of the world, Jesus was the Lamb slain (Revelation 13:8). This shows that the cross was not a reaction to sin but a part of God’s eternal Purpose to glorify His Son through redemption.

IV. Jesus: Lord and Christ by the Father’s Declaration

After Jesus’ death and resurrection, Peter declared to the Jews on Pentecost:

“Therefore, let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”

    —Acts 2:36

This divine declaration shows the Father’s exaltation of His Son. Though Jesus was always Lord and Christ in His nature, His resurrection and exaltation marked the public affirmation and enthronement of His kingship. Paul writes:

“Therefore, God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow… and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

    —Philippians 2:9–11

The Father intends for Jesus to be exalted, which brings glory to the Father. John 17:1 says the Son gives glory to the Father, and vice versa.

    V. Jesus: The Only Mediator Between God and Man

Jesus, as fully God and fully human, is uniquely qualified to connect Humanity to God. Paul declares:

“For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all…”

    —1 Timothy 2:5–6

No one else can bring us to God. No prophet, angel, or religion can replace the Son. Jesus alone is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6), and no one comes to the Father except through Him.

VI. Jesus: The Firstborn Over All Creation and the Church

The title “firstborn” does not imply that Jesus was a created being, but that He holds preeminence over all creation. In Jewish thought, the firstborn was the heir—the one with authority and inheritance.

    Jesus is also:

“The head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.”

    —Colossians 1:18

The Father’s will is that Jesus would have preeminence in everything—in creation, in redemption, and the Church. He is the cornerstone, the foundation, and the head of His people.

VII. Jesus: The Judge of the Living and the Dead

Jesus is not only our Savior but also our Judge. God has given Him authority to execute judgment:

“The Father judges no one but has committed all judgment to the Son.”

    —John 5:22

“He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead.”

    —Acts 10:42

At the end of the age, it is Jesus who will judge every soul. The great test of Humanity is not morality, good works, or religion—it is whether they know and follow Jesus Christ.

VIII. Jesus: The Fulfillment of All Prophecy

From Genesis to Revelation, the Scriptures point to Christ. He is the Seed of the woman (Genesis 3:15), the Lion of Judah (Genesis 49:10), the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53, the Son of David, the Branch of Jesse, and the Messiah prophesied in Daniel.

    Jesus Himself said:

“You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they that testify of Me.”

    —John 5:39

“Beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.”

    —Luke 24:27

All of Scripture exists to glorify the Son and lead us to Him.

IX. Jesus: The Only Savior and Eternal King

The Father’s plan for salvation centers entirely on Jesus Christ. Peter boldly proclaimed:

“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

    —Acts 4:12

Jesus is the Door, the Bread of Life, the Living Water, the Resurrection, and the Shepherd. He is the only answer for sin, death, and hell. To reject Jesus is to deny the Father (1 John 2:23).

Moreover, He is coming again as King of kings and Lord of lords (Revelation 19:16), and His kingdom will have no end (Luke 1:33).

    X. The Greatest Test of Humanity: What Will You Do With Jesus?

Considering all this, the most essential question facing every person is, What will you do with Jesus Christ?

    Jesus said:

“This is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.”

    —John 17:3

To know Jesus is to have eternal life. To reject Him is to perish eternally. There is no middle ground. Jesus is the key to life, the foundation of truth, and the standard by which God judges all things.

“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”

    —John 3:36

Conclusion: To Him Be the Glory Forever

Jesus Christ is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the One through whom all things exist, and the One for whom God made all things. God the Father thoughtfully devised His eternal plan to bring glory to the Son, and through this exalted endeavor, the Father is likewise honored.

“For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.”

    — Romans 11:36

Every soul must wrestle with the Person of Jesus. Failing to acknowledge His supremacy equates to failing the most crucial test of life. But to bow before Him as Lord, Christ, and Savior is to enter into eternal fellowship with the Father through the Son.

Let the world know: Jesus is Lord, and He alone is the way to the Father.

“That in all things He might have the preeminence.”

    —Colossians 1:18
